Rights when buying a Lenovo online?

Options
OH wants to buy an IBM Thinkpad maybe from Toye Computers. However their website has no T&Cs and they say (verbally) that it's not their policy to take back unsatisfactory products ordered online within the first 7 days, even if unused except for being turned on once to check if it's acceptable. Even a faulty product would be replaced, not refunded.

I know someone has posted before but I can't find the link - what are our statutory rights when purchasing a PC online and are there any exceptions which would permit a company to refuse to take back a PC within the first week after delivery? Is there a link to Trading Standards so that we can ring up?

Does anyone out there (private user) know what their after sales or warranty service is like?
We do NOT want a Dell which appears the only alternative at just under £1000. Sonys are more expensive and other brands have no EU warranty.
thank you for any advice.

Above is their terms and conditions

    From that page:
    19. Consumer Rights

If you are a Consumer you may cancel your purchase at any time within 7 working days of receipt without cause and receive a refund of the Price paid. To do this you must inform Toye in writing and return the products immediately, in the same condition you received them and at your own cost and risk. Any statutory Consumer rights are unaffected by this Agreement. This does not apply to any business customer or user.

You are looking at legislation over distance selling regulations - there T&Cs are a little odd for it to be a normal pc shop though so dont know if they are anything different? not UK based or such?

They are UK based, London I think. OH rang up a few months ago and is constantly getting "buy from us" emails. They definitely said on the ph that they wouldn't do 'within 7 days refunds' so must have had a rethink as regards private customers which is good news. Their own website says their PCs run at 40dbs which is quite noisy for a laptop - at least now if it's too noisy, could return it.
thanks as couldn't find it on the site; blame the heat for that :)

It was only at the bottom of the item page after you got so far which isnt great but could be put down to poor design rather than anything more malicious
