Hi! Sent 1st letter approx 15 days ago, they have reply d with 2 letters sending to appropriate person & looking into it, had phone call today asking if i had a spare 5 min to discuss recent sent letter & that the phone call would be recorded! said No to phone back was caught abit off mark, which was obviously intended.
My question is should i say to put in writing ( YES ) I know but relatively new to PPI reclaiming, although have reclaimed twice for charges & have won fully with contractual interest.
My history with the PPI, is that i was sold the policy on phone with a very pushy sales person stating it was free! well for 3 mths anyway. No questions were asked of my employment situ of which were a bit iffy at the time, hence i did not realize the exact cover of my policy nor was given anything in writting, and paid the top notch policy without really realizing, became unemployed! didn;t claim and when i tried to cancel policy a few years later, was told ok over phone but they didn't cancel until another phone call 2 months later. I realize i should have been more on the ball but with some heavy life issues it tends to go on the back burner! These companies really shouldn't jump on the train of vunerable people and suck the last bit of life out, of which seems to them where the money for them is!
Any help appreciated! Sorry for winge!

Hi there do not worry.;)
Your doing okay.
Personally I would request of anything they need to know is to send it in writing, so if you do not want to discuss these issues by telephone, explain to them you want written correspondence only.
Not only that if they did not resolve in your favour, you then have written evidence to supply to the FOS if it goes this far.
Although it may be okay to discuss these issues on the phone, I think by having something in writing is the best method, they should actually write to you if they require further information.
You have good reasons here, so keep at them, if you have a copy of the letter you sent them -keep it next to the phone but you do not have to discuss anything with them this way if you don't want to.
Although they have 8 weeks in full to respond, they must still get back to you by then even if you don't manage to speak to them, if not then move on to the FOS.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I've recently made a successfull PPI claim with MBNA. The telephone call seems to be standard, and involves going through the reasons for miss-selling given in the letter sent to them.
In my case they started on the phone to make an offer of 25% of the PPI I'd paid, when I said that wasn't anywhere near enough, the lady on the phone put me on hold, and came back offering 50% although I said I still wasn't happy with that, that was as much as they would offer on the phone. They sent me a cheque for the offered amount.
I wrote a second letter saying I didn't accept their offer and made a counter offer, they then wrote a final letter saying they would pay the full amount of the PPI premiums and if I wasn't happy with that I would have to go the FOS.0 -
Thank you both di3004 & JAY TEE,
Your responses are soo helpful & very much appreciated, i shall go with the request in writing, well done Jay Tee for your win! it is soo good to feel in power with MBNA as i have 4-5 harassment phone calls a day from India ( i'm only 1 payment in arrears), they are so rude,4 me anyway, not that I'm racist as my partner is Indian!
I have probably paid my balance 3 fold with charges & PPI.
I'd just like to say you are all so great responding, and help so much! Thankyou.0 -

Hi, an update MBNA phoned back and i asked if all corespondence could be in writting, they were very amicabal for a change! Recived letter 2 days later basically stating i had bought policy over the phone on a 'non-advised' basis. This means only factual information is present and our associates do not necessarily require a financial background. Any way have offered a goodwill payment of £450.00 all the premiums i have paid for PPC.? This is great but i would also like the associated interest, leter in post on Monday!
Does anyone have any advice regards the interest shall i ask for specific amount ie plus contractual and not just 8%, Advice welcome!.0 -

Hi Ihopeso, congratulations. We have a had a few successes with MBNA but have queried the interest they have given us as it doesnt make sense, they say its the way they calculate it! I have now asked the FOS to have a look at them.0 -
