Moving heavy furniture

Hi,
Can anyone please give me advice on how to move a extremely heavy wardrobe  The floor needs to be sanded, coated and then the wardrobe put back!
There will be one fairly strong man, one not so strong and me :( to supervise!
Any safe tips please?
Thanks
Carmen x

Could you do anything to reduce the weight , take doors off, shelves out etc.
Blanket on floor tip wardrobe onto blanket and pull .

two small rugs and two pieces of shiny plastic. same size as the rugs.

place plastic under the rugs. place one rug at each end, and slowly/gently lift wardrobe onto the rugs. one end at a time.

then you can slide it all over the house if required.
    Get some gorm.

    Wallbash,
We shall remove everything that is not screwed in.
It is a very old, tall, heavy beast not sure if we will be able to lift it back up from the floor! Only need to move it about six feet...grrrr.

The plastic under the rugs idea sounds good, thanks Ormus.
Now I need to find two large bits of plastic!
Do you think strong plastic black bags would work?

any strong plastic will do it.
    Get some gorm.
  • It will slide or shuffle without anything underneath. It can't be that heavy or it would have fell through the floor

If it is old ypou will probably find that it can be disassembled for moving. They were always designed to come apart for moving house. Have a look inside for screw heads etc and you may be surprised.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

Go with the plastic ( or blanket) do anything to cut friction.

I borrowed a "skateboard" from work permanently ;p Square piece of wood with 4 castors and when I moved a wardrobe all we did was tilt it slide the skateboard underneath and just wheeled it around.
