mystery seedlings......

without commenting on my stupidity, advice needed please...few weeks back i bought a little tray with a domed lid that came with soil and seeds.all i had to do was plant seeds, water ,then put somewhere warm with a cover over it all.
well, forgot all about them until spotted them yesterday on top of boiler in kitchen, they have sprouted and grown too big for the lidded bit!
trouble is....can't remember what seeds they are!have a feelig they MIGHT be sweet peas.anyhow, what do i do with them now?still snowing here so dont think they can go outside but what's the alternative?

Take them off the boiler and put them in the brightest frost free spot in your house. Keep them watered and let them grow on. If they're getting too big for the tray (take the lid off) then you'll have to !!!!! them out into individual pots.

The reason they've grown so tall is because they're searching for the scarce light they could find on top of a boiler.

Let them grow on for a couple of weeks then post here again describing them for identification. Sweet pea seedlings are pretty easy to identify.

It isn't unusual to forget what you've sown, by the way, so don't feel stupid. Even seasoned gardeners have pots that the labels fall off, or get mixed up.

I have one or two embarrassing tales to tell myself, which I may do one day.....:o

    !!!!! = prick

Goodness me, it shows that swearing has everything to do with the meaning of words and nothing to do with the spelling. And that swear filters probably produce at least 50% false positives on this site

If they are sweet peas they have a long root run and some people grow them at the seedling stage in a toilet roll cartons or paper home made individual tubes which you can stand up against each other in some kind of container. Don't feed them yet but do pinch out the growing tip - the tiny centre growth - when they have say two lots of leaves. You will soon get used to what some different seeds look like especially something like sweet peas whch are quite different to other seedlings. Also, anything you grow from seeds will need harding off when its a bit warmer. This means putting them in the sum during the day and then bringing them in again.
