Hi All,
Quick question....
I just purchased a piece of equipment from a PC forum and i sent him a one off direct debit payment of £10 (people have purchased from him before no problem)
My question is....
The details he receives...could he ever use agasint me?
All i can think he has is:
My Name
Account Code
Sort Code
If he was going to take money or commit fraud then surely he needs more?
Best Regards,
Tal

Send a cheque instead ......... which has your name, sort code, account number and even your signature :cool:0

so basically....with the details he's got...i am ok?
i am a worrier!0 -
Yes, you are fine.
With simply a name, sort code and account number they can do nothing.0 -
excellent, thank you0

But - however you paid. It wasn't a one-off direct debit payment? Takes at least 10 days to set that up.
So we'll assume it was a one off bill payment? In which case all he will see is what you put in the Reference field. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Surely he has your address as well to send the item?0

i just paid him £10 as a one off payment, so i guess he doesnt even have my bank details then?
also, it was more a software 'key' than a piece of hardware i was paying for so he has my hotmail email address.
So then, bottom line is
all he has is £10 and my reference for 'PC Part' ??0 -
Your £10 will show as the payment type (eg Bank Credit -) followed by whatever you put in 'Reference'. No - he won't have access to your bank account detail. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
