Can Halifax cancel my mortgage for reclaiming Total Mortgage Protection Plan PPI ?

I have been unfairly sold the Halifax Total Mortgage Protection Plan when I took the mortgage back in 2005. I am still with halifax for the mortgage and reached the end of the deal so no restrictions on moving.

  1. If I renew my mortgage with Halifax, can they cancel my current mortgage if I reclaim Total Mortgage Protection Plan under unfair advice etc. I've read about this happening with current accounts when a PPI claim was successful the bank terminated the account.
  2. I am thinking of renewing my mortgage and staying with halifax (as this is the cheapest option for me ), so if I claim and they are legally allowed to terminate my mortgage I would like to avoid the hassle by transferring the current mortgage with halifax to say Alliance and Lecister for example, and then do the claim.

Thanks for any advice :)

On what grounds and what evidence do you have to support that?

Remember that a lot of the things you can complaint about with credit card and loan PPI wont apply to mortgage PPI. You tend to find the evidence trail with a mortgage is greater. i.e. they will probably have a needs analysis and verification of eligibility.

So, what do you have to counter that?
