Alliance & Leicester bank charge

Hi all
I have received a charge of £25 for a standing order being bounced due to unavailable funds. I logged on the day it went out and noted that they money due to be credited hadn't gone in. I transferred enough money from my A&L account to cover it on the same day.
The standing order was bounced and a 25 charge levied. They refuse to refund this what do you reckon? Fair or should I push for a refund? I am sure when I used to work for a bank if the money was credited that day then it was acceptable and no charge was made.

Ask them if they can refund it as a gesture of goodwill based on your good record with them and what you did to correct your error.0 -
Was this the first time you incurred this charge? If so, follow the adice given by NWSM above (although you seem to have already tried this and failed)Hi all

If not the first time (or your account is not otherwise in good standing, so there is no good reason for the bank to offer a goodwill gesture), it probably won't be refunded. I'm sure even when you worked in the bank it wasn't policy to automatically refund all charges on request, especially for those who repeatedly incurred them (or were otherwise handling thier account in a manner that meant the bank didn't really want to keep the customer).
According to A&Ls terms, paying in cash the same day will not prevent the charges, sorry. Different banks may have different terms, afterall they are all supposed to be in competition with each other."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
