Luxury Siam, Curry Butty & other daily comps - possible scam?

  • Thanks finatra26. That's exactly what I found as well.

I am not overly concerned about spam to be honest, as I get tons of it every day anyway. Although, I remember a while ago they also asked for a phone number in one of the comps. :( I hope they don't start calling up like My Child.

I am more worried that I may have been entering every day for a prize that may not exist at all. They are very vague about the prizes, which makes me even more dubious.

I'm curious to find out what their business model is? They either sell the data they collect or they draw in traffic to click on the ads they have on the site, or they may display 'pay per view' ads, in which case they would be getting thousands of impressions every day.
also it seems to have links to ThePrizeFinder - UK Competitions : Loquax
at the bottom of the page?
I don't think Loquax and PrizeFinder endorse the site in any way. I think they are obliged to place a reciprocal link in return for having their comps listed on those websites.

Hi tinkerbell - In the spirit of investigative comping I have run sbybot on my PC & then clicked through one of their sites a bit - I am now going to run spybot again & see if anything shows up
Sherlock Finatra will post back if anything of concern shows

I've been doing these and have noticed an increase in spam :( Also noticed it after I did a travel channel one by mistake. Won't be doing these.....I think so many of us get pulled as we'd love to win a holiday.

Nothing found when spybot ran - so worst case scenario spam or no prizes

Thanks for letting us know and for everyone else who's looked into it. I've only entered one but would probably have got round to some of the others!

either post in the dailies thread asking gila to remove them or pm her and she will be happy to oblige im sure.....

or do what the rest of us are doing and just skip over them if you dont want to enter them. ive noticed they are not asking for anything other than name and email addy so a couple im still entering some days on the off chance, im already getting the extra spam anyway.
