  • I have some very good news to share:D

Co-Op have agreed to write off my debt to them...I have it in writing:D

    I know it's only £90:o, but that is 1 down anyway:D

I sent them a bit of a "poor me" letter with a copy of my husbands last hospital letter stating diagnosis, prognosis and how i have to care for him

I wonder if any of the bigger ones would???? No way, but it's worth a try

Excellent news Wayout, do try the other creditors, you have nothing to lose.

What will the co-op put on the credit reference report? Do you know?
  • Thanks WASHER!!

It said "We will report the account as satisfied"

is that ok do you think?

I wrote to my Virgin credit card too about the £60 debt, but haven't heard back yet

I think that is perfectly acceptable, to be settled as satisfied. How lovely of the co-op to have some empathy.

I hope for you, some or all of the other creditors settle your accounts, you have more than enough to deal with, time is precious for you and your husband.
  • Thanks again WASHER..... I think i'll send them exactly the same letter as I sent the co-op. It's interesting as the co-op were actually one of the least co-operative on my DMP when I first started.... I'm really really happy they've been so kind now

  • I have just posted on here as I am struggling alone and am sitting here feeling panicked having had only sick pay paid into my account today, after being off work for 6 weeks (first time ever and they didn't even tell me they were doing this) as my mortgage and bills are all due out this week.....but I read your post and just had to say how sorry I am to learn of your situation. I truly hope that someone can help you out. Sorry I can't be of more help, as I am new to this situation and this site, but I am sure that you will get loads of help from people on here. Good luck love!

Your not alone, plenty of peeps on here will help you.

We need an SOA (incomings and goings) and we will see what we can do, the priorities are your mortgage/gas/electricity/water and secured loans, everyone else will have to take a token payment, we can help with this by giving templete letters.

You must act now as regards to the mortgage etc, leaving it won't make it disappear but could make things worse. Set up a new thread and I promise we will try and help you.

  • Hi there.
Hold on. Do get back in touch with PayPlan. I have a DMP with them(about £20K owing and paying back £80pm.) I have complex health needs and degenerative conditions, but it not as advanced as your husbands.

It sounds to me as if there is not so much a change in your circumstances, as the need for a complete re assessment in the light of your circumstances changing from being employed to being a full time carer, and as such you and your husband should be eligible for more state benefits.

The most important thing you can do is claim ASAP for DLA, attendance allowances, income support etc. And I suggest you seek professional help to complete these forms. But I can assure you the minute you start to get these benefits, it allows PayPlan to negotiate in a wholly different way with your creditors. But they need to know you are going down this path. Once they receive confirmation of your income/benefit situation their attitude will change. It's possible at the moment, you are seen as an employed person asking for a payment break, which they cannot argue for to your creditors, but as a (pending) claimant they can, will and argue for reduced repayments.

With your husbands health in such a critical state, I'm sure you would be eligible for an emergency payment from the DSS Social Fund, as well.

I can assure you, PayPlan have told me to always keep them informed about my health status, so they can protect me from my creditors. This will be offered to you, if you are seen in a similar light.

If I can be of any further help, don't hesitate to contact me.

I think the difference here is the DMP may be in the OP name and not her husbands, I could be wrong though, and that could explain Payplan response.
