  • Just a word of warning for those thinking of selling tickets on Ebay. We had two sets of tickets for dates that we couldn't make. We put both sets on Ebay, and one of the listings were cancelled, after a complaint from Alton Towers. The second set sold, but we got an email from the person who bought them, who said that the tickets were refused at the gate. She had bought 8 tickets in total from different sellers, and said that none of them worked. She said that Alton Towers told her that they were making a note of all the barcodes on the listings and cancelling the tickets. Didn't find out if this was actually true, but ended up refunding her.

As much as I really appreciate the Sun giving these tickets away, I do wish that they would actually let you specify preffered dates - it would stop so many tickets being wasted or sold on. Lots of people can't go on weekdays - whilst we don't want weekend tickets!
  • I read in the T&Cs that it has to be the person who sends away for the tickets that actually uses them. Maybe they ask you for ID? I am certainly wary of swapping or buying tickets from e bay now after reading this and pugsleys post as above.

I doubt in many cases the barcode is clear enough from a photo for AT to read it??
  • Does anyone know, if you you still get the 2 days for the price of one in the theme park if you use the 50% off at AT hotels?

Agreed. I think the buyer was pulling a fast one. No way for you to prove otherwise is there.

I have been with these tickets for the last 2 years and although i used my own tickets (didn't swap or buy more etc) i was never asked for ID and the tickets have no personal things on them to identify you as the original person who sent off for them................does that make sense lol?

  • I agree with Katthehat. But I had used swapped tickets, and they were fine to use on the day. Just pop them into the machine and in you go. No extra checks.
    Serial lurker..
  • I did notice last year, quite a few ebayers covered up the barcode on their pics.
The tickets obviously can only be identified by barcodes.

Last year, the tickets didn't have names on them and I really don't think Alton Towers are bothered who goes in as long as you spend money once you are in there. I sold mine on Ebay with no problems whatsoever and bought the dates I wanted from Ebay. It's the only thing I could do given the dates we were allocated were outside all of my choices and we are not supposed to swap them on here.
