Air Asia

Air Asia seem to be offering really cheap flights to the far east and Australia for travel up until September, does anyone know anything about this airline? I'm suspicious of their service at these prices.

I have the pleasure of seeing the airasia crew on a regular basis and I've spoken to many of their passengers and they all seem happy. Never witnessed any major delays with them either or cancellations.
Just be aware that if u pay for economy the service is basic no inflight entertainment or food, if you want either you will need to pay for it. Also I think their economy seats don't recline, if memory serves. You get what u pay for take your own food and an iPod or book and you're laughing. They also do cheap as chips onward flights to nam oz etc etc

We flew to Kuala Lumpur from Stansted with Air Asia then from KL to Bangkok and back to KL last summer with no problems at all. The flight to KL is long but the plane was comfortable enough. It is a no frills airline so you pay for everything - entertainment, food, drinks, blankets, luggage etc on top of the fare you see but it was still a load cheaper than other airlines when we went. All flights were on time too which is always a bonus :D
Our seats from Stansted to KL did recline - it was an old air canada plane but there was talk of it being reoutfitted for Air Asia so that may have changed. On the flights to Bangkok the seats didn't recline but the part of the seat you sit on slid forwards to make it sort of recline if that makes sense

Best budget airline in the world imo.

Never had a plane so much as one minute late.

It's not a bad LCC... had my flights cancelled but they allowed me to route to a different country for free! Now that is customer service.

My Airasia flight was delayed 27 hours in December...
The assistance would have been betterwith another companies I reckon, and it seems AA does not want to acknowledge that huge delay
  • Flew from Stansted to Kuala Lumpur last August. No probs at all. Just bear in mind you have to pay extra for checked luggage and food and seat allocation. Even a bottle of water has to be paid for. However, if you are really on a budget, you can pay ad hoc, for instant noodles, which are the cheapest food items that is filling. Cost about £3 per pot, I think .... can get at Home Bargains for 50p, but who is gonna pour hot water in it for you in the plane?
Seats are fine, and the experience is no different from flying KLM to KL ... same type of seats and pitch. Not crammed like sardines.

    Well, that wouldn't stop me..

There are reasons why aircraft are certified and maintained to standards of international aviation authorities. If Air Asia's weren't, well Air Asia wouldn't be flying.
