Wireless Printer Problem

Hope someone would be able to help me. I have just bought a wireless printer. Our laptops have a wireless broadband connection (Orange Livebox). However, when I set the printer up on the first laptop it says 'You are currently unable to set up a Wi-Fi connection with your printer. You need to set up a wireless router to proceed further.'

I am afraid I am not very technically minded, do I need to buy another piece of equipment in order for my printer to work wirelessly? I thought the Orange Livebox was a wireless router.

What model is the printer?

I did my parents Lexmark one, had to connect the printer with a usb cable to the laptop and go through the wizard that came on a disc with the printer. This prompted me for the wireless security settings the printer needed to connect to the wireless router.

The printer could do its own scan of the wireless networks available and then i selected which network.

If you connect wirelessly to the internet on your laptops via the livebox it is indeed a wireless router.
