Sun holiday - Doniford Bay - loads of extra cost

Oh dear - some of the reviews on tripadvisor dont look good for this...
Also, I notice I've got to pay £88 extra on 'charges'. Already paid £76 to Sun so its not working out that cheap.
£21 for linen !!! - Is that just sheets or quilts too? It is optional though.
£19 or so for power
£48 for entertainment passes. This was for 8 of us but only 4 are going now. Do you reckon I can pay £24 for 4 passes instead?

Hi paulfoel,
Well as you say the linen is optional and we always have this taken off and take our own sheets etc (quilts and pillows are provided free).
Obviously the power/service charge has to be paid for but as for the entertainment passes you can usually phone them up and have some or all of them taken off - depending on wether your going to use them.

WE went a few years back to this park and it has got to be the most disgusting place on earth, its dirty and old and should be condemed!!! the beach is vile. We left early as we come down with a sickness bug and i was so glad to be home to feel clean. Im not one to moan about holiday parks as I always say its what you make of it and we have been to many pontins parks but this was just horrible, if i was you I would try and change it or think that its a lucky escape but if you do go take lots and lots of bleach and dark glasses so you can see where you staying!!0

OMG. Yeh. Been on tripadvisor and lots of people have said its vile.
Was it pontins when you were there? Its haven now so hopefully its been refurbished a little.
I went to Pontin in Brean and that was minging too.
Unfortunately, because it was booked on a Sun holiday we cant change it. However, I'm quite happy to play !!!! when I get there if it is bad !!!0 -

Cheers Clare. So are you talking with experince of a sun holiday? Yeah. If its just sheets etc then its worth saving £21.
Yeh. If theres now only going to be 4 of us then I only want to pay for 4 passes.
Unfortunately, I originally booked and paid for 8 (at £9-50 each) and thats tough but at least it means we've got the 3 bed accom now for 4 of us. It just cost a bit more.0 -
Yes I am talking from experience - we've been on about 8 in the last 4 yrs and we have always had the linen removed.
This time we have also had the entertainment passes taken off aswell.

also talking from experiance we'v never paid the linen charge either we take our own and sometime we find there are sheets left for us, but i wouildn;t risk not taking ours.
And this we've booked and paid for six of us to go now only five are going so i've paid for 5 passes. This was with park holidays

Hi
no it was Haven when we went but it was about 5 years ago, we have stayed a pontins Brean a few years ago too and that seemed klike a palace in comparison!!! sorry i dont mean to be putting you off but it was just really rank when we went hopefully they have refurbished it recently, im not sure what accommodation you have but if poss I would try and upgrade to the best you can afford. We never spent much time onsite and just used it as a base to explore the area. The beach at minehead is nice and they is a wildlife adventure sort of park close by, I will try and think what else we did, we came home early so didnt do too much but if i was you i would research the local area and make back up plans. The swimming pool wasnt great and was really cold when we where there but like i said hopefully it has changed for the better. Sorry if im being negative but it has to be the worst hol/short break we have ever been on
Good luck and hope I just had a bad experience and you come back telling me im talking rubbish :rotfl:0 -

Im sorry i didnt mean to make you worried, just wanted to prepare you. Like I said it was about 5 or actually it could be 6 as my son was only a baby and it may have got better. When do you go? Hopefully the weather will be good because it was rubbish when we where there and things always look better when the sunshines!!! We had a good holiday because we laughed about it the whole time and still do. Definatly a holiday to remember and we might have just been unlucky!!! I hope someone will reply and tell you im talking absolute rubbish and its great, kind of wishing i hadnt replied sorry xxx0 -
