Can I use cookeen in cakes?

in Old style MoneySaving
Sent mr biker out for marge yesterday and he came back with cookeen. never heard of it before, can i make cakes with it?

    Cookeen is a vegetable version of lard. It's all right for frying with, after a fashion, but I didn't get on very well when baking with it.

    Maybe there's a trick to using it.

    Just clip him round the ear 'ole and send him back :)

    I wouldn't use it for cakes, although I'd use it for half the amount of fat in pastry. Roasties would probably do alright in it too.
    The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
