is my washing machine about to bust?

I have a hotpoint WMM75 Ultima 6kg 1600 spin washing machine.
It is out of warranty, was on a 5 year one and that has literally just expired.
The machine has been getting noisier as its got older (I expected that with age) it feels like its about to take off when on full spin :rotfl:
I have had my moneys worth out of it but am waiting til it stops actually working before I buy a new one
The problem is that it has just started making a really loud whistling sound when on full spin. Have tried it on a few different programs and they are all the same.
Anyone got any idea what the whistling could be?

At a guess the drum bearings are packing up. www.apart4u.co.uk has some really good videos on washing machine repairs and how to identify faults.0

Whining is bearing in the motor. If it makes a noise like a jet taking off its a blown coil in the motor.0
