I am a fan of profesional snagging.....they come round snag it ...leave no stone unturned then they chase the builders up on your behalf(which takes all the stress from you) they come back and inspect that the builders have corrected to an acceptable standard..i think you have the "professional snaggers " for a period of 18mths or so.....can highly recommend....thay are of course have degrees in the building sector....so not anybody tom !!!!!! or harry are qualified to do sucha job.......i was amazed at what they can pick up on..even the standard of painting simple magnolia walls,,now who would have thought that would ever need to be re-done??

Hi there, sorry to be another person to ask but if you could let me know the name of the firm you used that'd be fantastic, thank you. My house should be ready June/July.

    Thanks.

    1. Check how well the site is managed. Ask whether the Site Manager has won any industry awards and speak to the people who have already moved in to get a feel for the quality of the workmanship and customer care.

    2. Research the house builder on the Internet. New Build Inspections is in the process of compiling dossiers for each the major house builders in the UK.

    3. Check that the house has a warranty from Zurich Municipal, the NHBC or Premier. However, these do not guarantee that your home will be free from defects and are primarily insurance schemes for the developer not the home owner.

we bought us when it was half up in late december, due completion in 2-3 weeks, sooo excited! we are buying through homebuy! great tips on here, we did use the solicitor and IFA they recommended as they had to be on a certain panel but have had no problems because they know the site and people so well so communication has been good.

Be prepared to move in 6 - 8 weeks after their estimate date!
    They will haggle on price!
Try to get extras included (we got carpets and vinyl and nearly £10k off asking price)

I was going to get a snagging firm to do mine when it's ready but found they had gone out of business due to the recession. Which firm did you use please?
I used Inspector Homes..they have been featured on Trevor Mc Donald programmes ect....on my first build they inspected ,,inspector homes were fabulolous,,then i used them on my own home to inspect some nhbc work i had done,,and i found them not so good, because i think they were laying off staff,i think it was like you said recession had kicked in , nobody buying houses ect.. in normal circumstances would thouroughly reccommend this

We moved into our Barratt house this week and couldn't be happier! :D They said it would be ready March/April so the estimate was spot on. Was pleasantly surprised just how good quality and well built it is after reading so many horror stories on the internet I was starting to worry!! Couple of small snags to fix but nothing major, and the site manager has been lovely and helpful. They even gave us stuff included for free that we weren't expecting as we'd seen they would cost extra on the optional extras list... like an outside light, under cabinet heating in the kitchen, hair washing hose tap thing in the bathroom, etc. Very happy and definitely worth the stress and worry :D
  • Congratulation, hope you enjoy the new home.

All the funds ( mortgage advance & down payment) have been transfer, my solicitor said the vendor solicitor email her and said the Zurich guarantee may be invalid.

This is a Redevelopment apartments in 2009. The apartment on top of mine has been sold without any problems in last year. The nearest sold history was on March 2010.

I was told that I can get the key on last friday, .. but I was told to wait ..

I dont know how long to wait for. All the expenses are coming to me.. like bank interests, increased solicitor fees..

I asked my solicitor the reason why she cannot find out the problems of this, she said she was just been told by the solicitor of the vendor.

I am curently live in a tempory accommodation, and ... I dont know how long I need to wait for.

    Anyone could help?

    Thanks

I used this snagging outfit in 2006 and found them very good. They don't take any BS from the developers.

In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
