Car Tax Help

Options
Hello,

I damaged my current tax disc washing my car so popped in my old one while I sorted out a new one.

At late notice, I had to drive up to Scotland from London due to a family emergency before I got the new duplicate tax disc. As if by magic, I was stopped by the police and fined for it.

They also said I was uninsured as a result, is this true? I have no documents with me to get a duplicate and I need to drive back to London tonight,

Would appreciate any help on this!

Thanks

Sophie

Well, as you now know, it is an offence to fail to display a valid tax disc, under the circumstances that you have described, so you either drive home illegally or wait until you get a replacement.

Your insurance is not invalid if you have no road tax displayed, sounds like a misunderstanding perhaps.
