New BT line - how do I change to pay monthly online?

I must have asked the customer service rep about 10 times that I wanted MONTHLY billing not quarterly - I received my first bill and they are charging me 3 months in advance.

I was told I can change to monthly billing online, does anyone know how to do this? I've had a good look through the my account section but I'll be damned if I can find the option to change it.

I changed from quarterly whole bill direct debit to monthly whole bill direct debit a while ago but, because I couldn't find a way to do so online, I used their genereal webmail form to notify them of my instructions.

All done and dusted in 3 days.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You can send an email request through BT.com

First bill is always quarterly as BT would like some of your cash 3 months in advance because they are bit short of their own at the moment and they are hoping you wont notice too much.

Jokes aside, if you ask for monthly your following bill (3 months time) will be monthly.

£9.3 billion short to be precise-that's the size of their re-estimated pension fund defecit. It would be almost funny-but I'm a BT shareholder.

All these short term loans from customers must be good for the cash flow, similar case with so called "Budget Account" where they always wanted monthly payments that far more than my bills ever were.

My son asled for monthly whole bill paid by DD when he signed up for the free connection deal last November. That's what he got right from the start.
