Why would you expect a call? If they've confirmed it will go via FP ..... that should be it.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

the payment is to a new payee and i have read that for security reasons if the payment is a considerable amount they will/can call back to confirm the payment.i am not sure if they will or not but if they were to....how long do i have to wait.
is there anybody that has experienced this call thing?0 -
Has the payment left your online account balance?
If so, you are likely to be waiting forever for the anticipated call.......0 -
They never ring me when I make a payment.0

i need to send this payment tommorrow.
so i am weighing up whether it will be better to withdraw cash and deposit.
ideally i would love to send it online as this is what online banking is meant for,to save time and inconvenience.
but i am just unsure now.
a few friends have given me contradicting versions and the bank itself is useless in giving a black and white answer.0 -
If they ring you, a screen appears before the payment is sent. It asks you to choose which phone number you want the call to be made to. You select the number then it presents another number on screen and you enter this on the phone (or it may be the other way round - haven't needed to do this in a while).
£5000 isn't a huge amount. HSBC typically let up to £10,000 go by Faster Payments.0 -
If you're concerned about online banking, why not phone HSBC and make the payment over the phone?0

As I understand, HSBC system does random fraud checks, in such cases payments are held behind automatically until it can be verified manually.
Generally if it's a new payee, an IP you've never used before for online banking or an unusual pattern in your account will trigger this.
The manual verification process does not take long and will only ask you questions that relate to you or your account.0 -
