Unlocking Mobile With Changed Product Code

I got a subsidy code from T-Mobile for a Nokia 5800. I got a code error message so phoned them and got a different one. This gave a not allowed message. Then I remembered I changed my product code so I could update the firmware. Could that be why or has that got noting to do with it?

you mean the IMEI? then yes i would think so
that code will be tied to the IMEI of the phone supplied by T mobile
  • Not the IMEI, just the product code.

What do you mean by product code? Do you mean that you updated to 5801 or whatever?
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

  • I'm not sure what the product code is, but I think it identifies the model, country and operator. When Nokia release firmware updates the operators have to approve it before they release it on their network.
My product code wasn't receiving the latest update so I changed it to a generic one. It fools the updater into thinking you have an unbranded phone so downloads unbranded firmware.
