NOBO Electric Heating

Hi,

I currently have Electric storage heaters in my property, I am thinking of replacing these with some Nobo Electric radiators. Does anyone have any experience of these?
Are they any good ?
I cannot have gas central heating put in the property so these look to be a good and more controlable option than the storage heaters I have been quoted approx £1400 for a full house all rooms set up so price is very good when stacked up against the Central heating install cost. (fitting will be free as my brother is a sparky)

Any comments or suggestions for other options appriciated.

Thanks

  • Like you (and many other contributors to this forum), I want to replace my storage heaters with an easily controlled system of "on-demand" electic heating - even if it is more expoensive to run. Some would argue it may even be cheaper if well controlled. The system you suggest looks good. I have seen others advertised at a comparable price (Beha and Consort). See them at dealec.co.uk

You could put together a system much cheaper with basic panel heaters plus add on electronic thermostats and timers. However, IMO it starts getting a bit clunky.

There are other more expensive systems out there which look nicer (Rointe, EHC). However, that's down to preference.

Strangely, I've only seen one post which strongly recommends this type of heating - and she got slaughtered for it.

Because of the lack of recommendations, it's going to take a leap of faith to buy one of these systems. I'm at that point, as I am determined not to suffer another winter with storage heaters.

Where are you buying from? I've only seen them on the Nobo web page.

Nobo website is where i will be buyig them from, I agree another winter of storage heaters is not on the cards, I don't think that these heater will be any more to run as they will only be on when i need them rather than for hours and then going cold whilst i'm at work.

Why go to the expense of this system? Electric panel heaters can be had for less than £50 each and there are plenty of designs so no need for a clunky look.

Take a look at the Dimplex wesbite.
  • Had a look at the Dimplex options for a similar system. The only site I have checked for prices is discountheating.co.uk. The cheapest compatible 2Kw heater I can see costs £122 (EPX range). Plus each heater needs an additional receiver module which cost £60. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but this doesn't seem any cheaper.

I hope you have a huge bank balance, these things are all hyped up rubbish, they will cost a lot more than your storage heaters to run.
