Cheque clearance while bankrupt

I was declared bankrupt a couple of weeks ago. The other day I got that big compensation cheque for my accident at work and wonder if there is any way of keeping that money without bankruptcy admin knowing about it? Thanks!

Hiya,
was the compensation for pain and suffering, or lost earnings. or both.
when you filled in your forms you should have declared it on the forms. If it is for pain and suffering only then the OR cant touch it anyway..but if there is a portion for lost earnings then the OR can and will take that...
Im sorry but if you try and hide it then sure is eggs is eggs..you WILL get into a heap of trouble, your bankruptcy forms are a legal document and by signing you agree to cooperate
if you try and hide it, then OR can
suspend your discharge from bankruptcy indefinately
slap a bankruptcy restriction order on you for up to 15 years (so in effect you remain with all the restrictions of bankrutpcy )
Its good you have got compentsation and i imagine a lot if it is for pain and suffering and like i said thats yours to keep, but dont try and hide any lost earnings...0 -
Its not worth trying to hide it. BR is a big enough blip in your life without that blip lasting what will feel like an eternity! You are under a legal obligation to tell the OR and when you signed you agreed to this.
As mentioned, the OR is only interested in compensation for loss of earnings. I assume that you received a full breakdown of the compensation with the cheque? If not, then ask for one ASAP and present this to the OR.0 -
Is it me? and I am not being judgemental or do not mean to be, but there seems to be a lot of these threads appearing about hiding monies from the OR.:pB&SC No. 298

Im also going through a personal injury claim, which I put on my SAO, the OR has written to my solicitors for details about the claim, they have told me that as long as its not for loss of earnings then Im fine, which it isnt.
Theres one thing Ive learnt from going BR, be honest, the OR are not ogres they dont want to take things away from you that are rightly yours. I dont even mind paying my IPA its a small price to pay for my peace of mind,
If you are thinking of "hiding " it then you know that you shouldnt be doing it
"Just my opinion"
