Don't get downhearted when they put you off just keep going back at them, it may take a while but you'll get there in the end. Don't take a measly 60-80% of what your owed as a "gesture of goodwill" you want all of YOUR money back and not a penny less with added interst.0

Hello again, well I sent HSBC a letter on 25/03/10 so according to my calculations the 8 week response period expires tomorrow. I'll play fair, giving them a few days to receive my letter and a few days to reply, so won't do anything until monday/tuesday next week.
However I did get a letter from them a few weeks back basically saying 'we have received your letter, unfortunately due to workloads it will take a while to get back to you' etc.
I take it that response doesn't constitute a proper reply and reset the 8 week period does it?
 Thanking you kindly0

 Hi and hope your well.;)
Going by what they have said, there is no actual timescale given, but I am aware they are all over-run with these complaints where some are taking longer than the 8 weeks.
So you can if you want to discreetly give them that extra time as you stated, or give them a call this week just to ask for an update on your case.
Hope it won't be too long now, and hopefully with a good result out of this.
 Fingers crossed.

Well I held off on sending them the letter and what with one thing or another (new girlfriend :j) I forgot about it.
However I just got another letter through the post from HSBC saying that they are still looking into the matter, its now over 3 months since I sent the original letter. Enclosed in the letter from HSBC is a 'Taking your complaint to the Ombudsman' leaflet.
Should I write them another letter asking them to get a shufty on looking at the complaint, or shall I move down the Ombudsman route?
 Any advice is greatly appreciated.0

Well 4 months has now passed since I wrote the original letter and I just received another 'I can confirm that my investigation is ongoing' reply. I think 4 months is adequate time to get a response, so time to send the 'in 14 days im going to the ombudsman' letter!
I'm hoping I won't have to move banks, aside from this they've been quite good to me. On the plus side I do work for one so I guess it won't be too hard to move my account there... 0 0

 Hi there
Blimey, you have been waiting a long time?
Do you know the email details of their Chief Executive officer (CEO), if so I would email them - it "may" help and kick them into touch..........hopefully anyway.
LOL, yeah that should be okay......:D, but at the end of the day your only reclaiming what is rightfully yours and they should not take these things personally LOL, they should treat you with fairly and with respect as a valuable customer and as ya know have a lenders code to follow.:D;)The one and only "Dizzy Di" 0 0

Dont go round admitting things like that, you'll get shot
Personally i'd get a bit harder now and threaten court or the FOS. Give them 14 days to provide a final decision, theyve had plenty of time now. 0 0
