I have only just heard about this claiming back of PPI. Don't know where I have been. I took a car loan with Black Horse in 2002 which ran until 2007. I never spoke to anyone from Blackhorse only the car salesman and he told me I had to take out PPI unless I wouldn't get the loan. No one asked if I needed it, wanted it or any other questions.
I have written a stage 1 letter from here but have heard nothing back in 4 weeks. How long do you think I should leave it until I write again. What do yout hink the chances of me being successful are as wel?
Am a newbie to this site and these forums but any advice or input would be very much appreciated

You have a very good chance stuart stick them out if you are sure you was missold, i'd give them a ring 08448007915. I rang yesterday to chase mine up and they said they would look at it that day .
Good luck x0 -
Thank. I called them and they said that have written a response to me but they wouldn't say what it said. Which probably means they have told me to do one I would have thought! :-(0

If it helps i was told on one of my claims (i have nine ha ha ) a letter was in the post and altho it wasnt addmitting mis selling of PPI it was a gesture of good will offfer . Keep us posted what happens .
Once again good luck x0 -
Thanks. Funnily enough they have written back to me at my parents address saying that the car dealer who sold me my policy is no longer trading but they can find no evidence that it was misold. And that I signed a document to state that I knew I was taking payment protection! :-(0

Good luck Stuart, hope its upheld in your favour, if not they may give you the opportunity to write again with further information.
However, I don't think BH were governed/regulated by GISC where the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, so the Financial ombudsman services (FOS) do not normally investigate complaints if they were not governed when the loan was taken out, but see what they say first if it comes to this, as they may suggest you write to the insurer of BH instead who would have been covered by the above, the FOS are also trying to make these responsible.
But first of all see whay result you have first and take it from there, its another direction to follow if this one fails, good luck though and keep at them.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Sorry Stuart, missed your most recent post, I would try in this case to find out who the insurer was, one of mine had dissolved, and I went the insurer direction.
If you do not have the policy details of the insurer, write to BH and request for these and the details of the insurer should be also enclosed.
BH should still supply the unsurer details as being the lender of the broker.
So no giving up quite yet.......:D;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Black Horse have said they didn't sell me their finance or their product and that it was sold to me by the peugeot dealership and not them. That dealership has now closed so they said it's not their problem. Surely it's their poduct so they must be responsible? They let someone without any financial knowledge sell me their product.
I am going write a second letter and see what happens0 -

Yes that's correct its the ones who sold you the product you pursue.
One of the companies who I tried to reclaim from dissolved, I even then due to this tried with the lender but of course they confirm they have no responsibility, the FOS are also telling people in this situation to pursue with the insurer themselves as they are now trying to make these responsible, however its only been over the last year the FOS have been considering this.
Its another avenue to take if all else fails.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
