Acer PC restore problem

I just bought a new Acer desktop PC last week, it came loaded with a trial of McAfee along woth other trials and when I was removing it I somehow lost the ability to play DVD's. No problem I thought do a factory restore. It didn't work, during the resore a message flashes past to say that some files cannot be found and it ends up with the message "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation"

Now I managed to get a Vista recovery disk and I have managed to get Vista back again and I have proceeded to upgrade with the supplied Windows 7 upgrade disk.

My problem is that I don't really know what happened, I don't know of the factory restore will work again. The Acer eRecovery program has disappeared from the start menu and I don't have any recovery media. The PC is currently 6 days old although it does appear to be working OK - but what happens if anything goes wrong in the future?

I have raised this with Acer (what appears to be an off-shore call centre) and really don't expect to get any satisfaction with them. The PC is only 6 days old so I am not sure whether to reject it under the distance selling regulations or just let it go and buy a new Windows 7 if a problem ever occurs.

I have another PC on which I installed Windows 7 so I do have an original 'clean install' version of Windows 7, is there any way I can use the 'clean install' to rebuild my Acer and to then change to my upgrade Acer licence. (I am not trying to get around Microsoft licensing, I have 2 Windows 7 PC's - one of them just doesn't seem to be able to be rebuilt)
