Go to www.royalmail.com and click on personal customers and then price finder, put in the weight and country and it will tell you how much it costs. I would send it either by International signed for or Airsure. Hope this helps

Don't forget to add weight for packaging. If it is likely to be under 39 pounds, I would be inclined to use airmail with a CoP which will make it about 4 pounds cheaper. Over 39 pounds then I would agree with tiaria.

Make sure you get a trackable service that will prove the item has been delivered, preferably with a signature.

There is no service which RM provides that guarantees a signature once the item leaves the UK. For the extra cost of something like airsure (which is an extra £5) your better off saving money if the item is below £39 just sticking with normal airmail and claiming with the COP if it gets lost

Can't you bill the buyer for the postage costs?

Yes, but if the item sells for a combined value of, say, 15 pounds, with Airsure you may have paid 7 pounds postage so profit 8 is pounds. With airmail paying 3 pounds profit is 12 pounds. In both cases it is covered by the PO.
  • Paypal require the proof of delivery. Unfortunately once the item leaves the UK (by Airsure of ISF) it is not possible to ensure tracking.

So the OP must send to the value of the item. If the buyer claims non receipt, he can refund and claim from Royal Mail. There is nothing he can do to protect the non receipt claim in Paypal.

If the item is over £150, you could send it via a courier to ensure proof of signature, which is more than proof of delivery and required by Paypal for amounts of £150 or more.
