Can I cancel an on line order?

Help! I made an on line order for furniture last night and now I have read mixed reviews ( didn't know about these before hand duh! yes, I could kick myself.)

They seem to send only one man delivery and I can't help with lifting as I am less abled due to spinal surgery.

The terms and conditions state that you can cancel up to 7 days AFTER DELIVERY, but the delivery might not be until the middle of April!! ( NO mention of being able to cancel the ORDER BEFORE delivery)

Please can you tell me if I have the right to cancel now ( the day after making the order) and do I have to give a reason?............it's for quite a large sum.

Thanks to anyone who can help me

Under the DSRs you have 7 days to inform them in writing (email counts) that you wish to cancel. You can do this before you receive the item

The DSR allow you 7 WORKING days, beginning with the day after delivery.

However there is nothing to stop cancellation before delivery under DSR;-

Can a consumer cancel an order before they receive the goods or where goods are lost in transit?
3.35 Yes. Where the DSRs give consumers rights to cancel, this right is unconditional. If consumers cancel before they have received the goods you must refund the total price of the goods, including any delivery charges. Consumers who have cancelled under the DSRs may refuse to accept delivery of the goods. Refusal in such a situation cannot be treated as a breach of contract."

    Statutory Instrument 2000 No. 2334
Section 10;-(2) Except as otherwise provided by these Regulations, the effect of a notice of cancellation is that the contract shall be treated as if it had not been made.
