Aerial installation - what sort of price?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had a 'splitter' installed from a main aerial recently?

My new house has a decent signal from the aerial in the lounge but no external socket in my bedroom.

I don't think I need a whole new aerial for the bedroom (but I'm prepared to be told otherwise lol) but was wondering how much I should expect to pay, roughly to install a splitter?

It's a 1930s semi in the midlands if that help!

a splitter can be just 2/3 quid and some new cable into the bedroom.
be aware that splitters dont work very well.
a new aerial for each tv is far better.
just 10/11 quid at wickes. you can put it in the loft. itll work there ok in 99% of homes.

You will need to run leads to both TV's from it, if it doesn't work, just take it back to Argos.

IMHO aerial amps/boosters are a waste of money. they rarely work.
far better to install a proper aerial to each tv. and decent cable.
any joins (of any sort) in the cable will cause problems.

You are entitled to your opinion, however given that the OP has a good signal from their existing aerial, a signal booster may well do the job, they can return it to Argos if it doesn't, so nothing to lose.

I have a similar signal booster feeding 2 tv's perfectly well, so worth a try IMHO.

Well we install to hotels/hospitals/blocks of flats etc.. and one aerial is fine.

If you are going to carry out the work yourself, then simply start with a passive splitter if you are getting breakup then pay the extra for a powered amplifier.

Remember to use external parts where required and use self amalgamating type on the connections, and don't go on your roof.

{edit] Oh and to actually answer your question after my waffle, depends where the aerial installer goes to to distribute from and your location, could be done in 15 minutes for as little as £30+ passively, but I would guess around £60 all in, as you're out of London.
