when a letting agent does a credit check will they be able to see what current debt i have or just if i have any ccj`s defaults etc. ?
me and my wife have sold out house and looking at renting for a while. out joint wage is about 7x the cost of the yearly rent so that isnt a problem but i also pay out quite alot of money in loans and credit cards. i always pay everything on time etc. but im a little concerned the amount of credit i have may effect there decision.

Usually the credit check is part of the reference that the agent would receive back. The reference agency basically look at whether or not you have had any CCJs or have ever defaulted on any loans etc.
Don't worry, as the credit check is just one third of your entire application. As the other two parts are employers & landlords reference.
I hope that helps.0 -
yup thanks. employers reference will be find but were moving from a house we owned so wont have any landlord reference.
im thinking all should go through alright as ive never missed payments or not paid for any of the credit i have0 -
have you spoken to the agents about paying the 6 months in advance instead of doing a credit check?0

We went to a letting agency yesterday to discuss renting one of their properties. I was open and honest about how many defaults I have and they told me that it's mainly CCJ's that they're looking for so you should be fine.0

paying 6 months isnt really an option. 850pm and 950 deposit + credit checks etc would be about 6k0

i thought you had just sold your house?... so you should have plenty of money for 6months upfront0
-
why do you assume that i made loads of money out of selling my house ? house prices have dropped a hell of a lot in the last couple of years0
