main class manifest attribute??

:Dhi im trying to download jar games onto my comp and im getting the following message i have no idea what to do, i have googled it and now im more confused than before i started.
im on windows vista. the message is FAILED TO LOAD MAIN-CLASS MANIFEST ATTRIBUTE FROM C:\ USER etc then the programme name.
thanks for any help guys

    Might need to update your JRE to latest version.

    What are you trying to - run the file on the PC?

    im trying to download game onto pc to then transfer onto my phone

    ive just googled JRE and now know what it is im trying to open java on my comp but nowts happening how do i know if it needs updating and which one to update too??

    Go to java.com and click "Do I have java".

    Or open a command prompt (Start>run>Type "cmd". press enter) and enter "java -version", press enter, and post back what it says.

    hi i cannot do a screen shot so will type out what comes up. it says
    java version1.6.0_17
    java TM SE runtime enviroment build 1.6.0_17-b04
    java hotspotTM client vm build 14.3-b01,mixed mode,sharing

    hope this makes sense?
