Hi
I was just wandering if it was possible to restart my pc so it loads up in Ms-dos mode.. I have xp but a very old game needs the pc loaded in full dos-mode. i know on windows 95/98 i used to hold down shift or shift F8 when the pc loaded and then this stopped the Operating sytem loading.
hope someone can help!
Thanks

Hmm... even if you could, you have to make sure that your hard drive is not NTFS formatted, otherwise, the full dos mode will not be able to read it.
If you have formatted in FAT32, then, you could just try sticking in a 98 boot disk and loading your game in that fashion. But, I'm not entirely sure if this will work since there will be files you will need that the boot disk version will not provide. In any case, it's something to try, and if you're looking for a place to get boot disks, you can try here:

Windows XP doesnt have a full DOS mode thatwe used in win9X
The only way I can think would be to use a dos boot disk, unfortunatly if your drive is formated using NTFS then your not going to be able to access it. you will need to load any drivers for cd rom, mouse sound card that you need using the autoexec.bat and config.sys
Im not sure if they will work but you could try virtual pc or another OS emulator DOSBox
What game is it your trying to play0 -
yea only way to do it would be to create a shell to run DOS in. (i think)
you might be best off just not worrying about the game, its going to be a lot of work to get it running.
you could always try and find someone who has 95/98 on their computer still.
If you can collect one from in kent i have an incredibly old Dell that has 98 on it. Your welcome to take it save me taking it to the dump lol.0
