Hello, just back to say that our caterer suggested a hog roast would be tooooo much after the meal, looking at timings we have
2.30 Ceremony
3.30 Signing register (don't ask!)/ photos / drinks / canapes
4.30 Sitting down...
5.00 Picnic in hampers - inc roast ham joint
6.00 Dessert
6.30 Tea / Coffee / Cake
7.00 Speeches
7.30 Mingling
8.00 First dance / band / DJ
And now we have
10.00 bacon baps / Chip cones
10.30 Band
11.15 DJ
etc etc
Even I could see that it looked like we wouldn't be hungry enough for a full hog roast at 10pm!
HTH - how are all the plans coming along, love reading about plans - esp some that seem close to mine!

            Things are coming on slowly!
But we have a marquee! Yay!
and we have met with 3 other caterers! We have since decided not to go for the 1st catering company! The others are coming in at under £3000 and that includes a full pay bar with kegs, crockery, linens, 3 course meal, tea and coffee, service etc etc! Just need to get 2 more quotes in and then make a choice!
Apart from that i had a bad dress shopping experience and now need to sort out everything else!
Got my save the dates out though!
Next on the list is:
Photographer
band
hog roast! My DF has decided thats what he wants more than anything! so hog all round!
Lovely to hear others plans! Time is going quite quickly now!0 -
            Hi
Flower girl and bridesmaid dresses are really good quality and very cheap from a shop called Angel Club on Ebay.
Hog roast is always the cheaper catering option and everyone loves it!
Photographer- My friend used evanpowellphotography.co.uk who covered the whole day for £400. I agree with the other replies that you should choose your photographer carefully but there are very good photographers out there who don't charge the earth. Her photos were amazing and she was really happy with him
good luck with the planning

We're also a marquee couple, but it looks like we've been really fortunate...
We were originally booked for the ballroom at our local council owned venue, but as of next year they are no longer hiring the ballroom out so they have offered us the marquee for the same hire price. So instead of £2,400 hire cost, it's now £420 :money:
We do have to pay for decoration, chair covers and centrepieces on top of that (£389).
Our catering for the day is £1,120.70 for 62 people excluding drinks. Now that we've been moved to the marquee we're thinking of having a hog roast, as we're only having a two course meal anyway.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
ljbnotts - remember to ask the caterers to prepare some sample dishes for you to try before you make your final decision. When you eventually settle on one ask them to help you with the menu and then cook a sample for you to try.0
