Yeah come on down! I'm still slightly confused as where we know 200 people from! A few more won't make a difference!
There seems to be so much going on at the moment, buying a house, planning the wedding, just started a new job etc! Everyone else is so excited but i'm not. DF and my mum say its just because this is the boring bit and i'm more focused on my job (which i love!) so your advice to take it one thing at a time is a something i will def do! On the plus side by the time of the wedding i will be super skinny with all the stress! haha!
Im the same, just moved house, planning a wedding, studying etc, i have to set aside time to do wedding stuff as id much rather study, sad i know but its my true passion.
When are you getting married you didnt mention a date?
All the little things you do yourself will add loads of personnal touches and make the day just a little bit more special.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
I'd probably make the wedding around 3pm so that you can just have the hog roast in the evening rather than having both that and the earlier meal. People won't want to eat a great deal when there's drinking and dancing to be done anyway, I don't think.
I wouldn't get too stressed about it though, especially if you can afford it.0 -
we got married at three, and i disagree that people won't want a meal and then food later - we certainly did - all the bopping and drinking gives you an appetite'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Getting married on the 6th November this year!
Oh well 2011 will be nice and peaceful!!
We were in 2 minds about only having 1 meal, but think people will need feeding, don't want our day guests getting to drunk to early!0 -
I got a quote just for the marquee with nothing else in it and it was £7500!!
That was any time of the year even during the week

Me again! We are having the ceremony at 2.30pm, canapes 3.30 ish, sitting down for a meal at 5pm - and then the hog roast probably about 9:30pm... again I know we could cut this out but I am def looking forward to that bit!!

You could try the local scout group for the marquee, although you might not get one that's big enough, and not all the extras that you're getting now it would be considerably cheaper.
The other option would be to ask other people who use marquees regularly, perhaps flower show exhibitors. Sorry probably not that helpful.MFW #66 - £4800 target0 -

Why not have an afternoon tea instead of your 5pm meal, and then bring your hog roast forward to 8pm?0 -

The problem with marquees used by scout groups and flower shows is that they don't have boarded floors, they are just placed directly onto the grass.
I would say get quotations from several marquee companies and several caterers. BTW the hog will probably take all day to roast anyway unless it is cooked elsewhere and carved up on site.
A tip regarding your dress OP - is to look in the bridal sales in March and September (these are the months when the shops sell off their old stock to make way for new stock that they will be buying at the big trade shows which take place in Harrogate in March and September...or go for a pre-loved dress.0 -
I don't know if you plan on doing favors, but it's an easy thing to cut and save money. They usually end up in the trash or left on the table anyway.
I bought my 100% silk gown at a sample sale for a steal.
I am making my own veil.
I personally would NOT skimp on a photographer. In the end you will have your pictures. A great photog can make a modest wedding look spectacular and a crap photog can make an outstanding wedding look really horrible.
Have you looked around for someone with a cool car? Maybe place an ad on Gumtree?
I persoanlly am not doing much decorations at the church as we will not be there very long. I am doing some pew decorations with ivy and flowers on the first 6 or so pews which will then be moved to the reception room after mass. OR make it something you can move to the reception site.
Flower girl dresses don't need to be "flower girl" dresses the name spikes the price. Look at sales of party dresses.
For bridesmaids look at high street for sales. Also check out ebay, J Crew and Ann Taylor make great bridesmaid dresses which are often resold on ebay. I know they are American and the postage will be a bit more, but they often sell for under $50.
My open bar is included in my venue so I don't have a ton of suggestions there. Bulk stores? Signature drinks? Buy a (or two) keg of beer! My OH is suggestiong contacting a brewery to do this. EDIT OH says I should say cask instead of keg.0
