You need to get yourself down to the CAB who will be able to help/advise and speak on your behalf if you wish.
dont worry, plenty of folk out there to help - now you have found this site you will be fine.
sending mega hugs to you too.

*super duper hug*.......I'm really sorry about your husband.
You have the amount in dollars...so I'm not really sure who can help you in your country, but I'd like to offer my positive thoughts to get you through this.
How far behind are you? and also how long do you have left on the mortgage. Could you sort it out so there is smaller amount and longer?..or is this all too late now?
Are you in a circumstance that you could get them to hold off while you sell the house and downsize at all?
I'm sure there will be someone along soon who could offer you more help then myself.0 -
Are you in the US? We will not be the best people to ask, unfortunately, as we do not know the "system", as it were, over the pond.
Do you have family you can confide in? A colleague, friend, priest, teacher??? Anyone? You need some support and you need someone who can guide you at the very tough time. If the worst came to the worst, it would probably be better for you to sell the house (before the mortgage compnay does) and move somewhere smaller, or rent for a bit. If are not workning, it might be a good idea to move in with relatives for a bit, until you get back on your feet. Which you will, it will just take time. Good Luck.0 -
So sorry about your husband.
Which country are you in? Knowing this will make it easier to offer advice as different places have different options.0 -
I am in the us, and i have been though all the channels, unfortunately my husband let his insurance policy lapse. I may have to sell the house but I don't want my kids to lose there home to. Thanks for all of your thoughts0

Big hugs & really sorry about your husband. Did your husband have any pension or money coming from his job? Is there anyone that can offer advice such as welfare or voluntary debt organisation in the US? Is there any claim for compensation ete re the car accident? Do you have any family/close friends that can help? As last desperate measure could you sell stuff (ebay/yard sale) but hard to get that much before its due that way... Its really hard to know what to suggest as, like others dont know thw law in the SU but am sure there must be someone locally that you can get advice from. Huge hugs coming your way. What an awful, desperate situation to be in.Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Over here we have something called the Citizen's Advice Bureau. It's basically a charity that helps people with almost any problem. Do you have anything similar in the states?

Also take a look at this thread. By making cut backs we maybe able to help you.

Do any of the sites for Suze Orman, Oprah etc (who often talk about debt) - have boards where you can ask for help?Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0
