Not as outrageous as it sounds - I did an evening class for GCSE Accounting and have just been looking at A levels progressing to AAT qualifications - but they don't have any at the moment that would fit in with my days off. But it may be an option if I go off the health idea. I'm a bit confused at the moment, don't know what to go for. Probably better money in the accounting route though
My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0 -
YAY!!!!! Do AAT!!!! Then get a job as an internal auditor at your favourite bank! Progress nicely, changing banks every few years, quick detour to ccard & loan companies!!!!!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I don't know much about these qualifications etc - is an A level higher than an AS level or an A2 level, or what? What order do they go in?My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0

AS and A2 are two levels that replaced the original 'A level'. AS is the exam half way through and A2 is the final exam (equivalent to end of first and second year if you were doing in a school kinda timetable). Its no different to 'A level' really, except you can get a recognised qualification half way through and stop there - its probably not recognised by many though
It was meant to broaden a level students subjects by encouraging them to take 4 rather than 3 subjects for the first year, and then choose to drop one (just get the AS level) and do 3 for the final year.

Thanks
Before this job I spent 18 months admin-ing for the local Adult Care team, working with social workers, occupational therapists and community care officers, I think that's what's kind of turned me towards that. But I'm also interested in Accounting, always have been a numbers person, have been doing the husbands business books for a few years, so I'm a bit torn at the moment

I did my level 1 CAT exams about 8 years ago, and although I love working with figures (yes I know I am bad at budgeting, doesn't mean I don't love to spend hours adding it al up!!!) I realised I am much more a people person, and am now considering teaching, maybe Maths (which is still figures, but with more interesting 'clients')
Good Luck in whatever you hope to do, have you checked out the Open University, if you have a low income you could get funding and study grants (have now done 7 courses with them, and would highly recommend it)

I wouldn't claim that you couldn't do it, but it would be like turning to the Dark Side.

Almost undoubtably. It's something I've been thinking about.
Anyone know how I'd get to become an Auditor?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

That picture looks remarkably like me:)
I've just been looking at the OU site, the courses are quite expensive, and we're not on particularly low income (even though we never have any money) so don't think I'd get help, however I'm also looking at a Law course through Unison (I get a discount for being a member) - started studying Law many moons ago at home, but then met Mr A, and things like studying became much less important than doing 'other things' with my new boyfriend, if you get my drift.....so I gave it up. That's my problem, not much will power to stick at things, which is why a class room based course would be better for me.
Anyhow, thanks everyone for the words of advice, I'm off to bed now even though I probably won't sleep with all these ideas floating around in my head.
