I know just how you feel...had the same rejections in same time...and 2 of mine were council jobs.

Ask for feedback...i did (basically I didn't know enough about (a) the role - never done THAT job before but several with all required skills and (b) the area - am moving into the area for goodness sake!) Like you am thinking that I do a good form, but can't match up in person! ;)

Chin up, something better will come along...thats what I keep getting told anyway:)

Awww you may still get it?

However if it is any consolation I have found that Council's have been very infuriating! I have applied for jobs before which I have received interviews for (and so has BF) and got on really REALLY well....only to be turned down.

They will give feedback though - in fact they should offer it as a service post-interview.

Good luck though, you may still get in there!

  • Well haven't heard anything so safe to say I never got it.

However, I went into work today, and my boss's boss has offered me a transfer to another office, same number of hours but spread over three days instead of four, so I'll get two days off a week, and they are letting me have four weeks off (unpaid) over the summer holidays. So I'm going to give that a try and see if it works out - the other office is apparently very busy, and has several other people working in it, who I've met before, so I think it will be a better atmosphere. I'll give it a go for a few months and see how it works out. So all is not lost.

    well somethings better than nothing!

A new challenge is always good, freshens up the mind, shakes off the cobwebs, but you should only do what you're happy to do!

  • Indeed - I'm not 100% about it, but it will certainly tide me over until something else comes along. And if the weather stays like this I can hardly complain at having four weeks off, can I?:)

I'm actually going to look at using the extra time for a college course or some sort of study. I want to try and get qualified in something so I can get a better job once the kids are a bit more self sufficient. Not sure what yet though, leaning towards something health and social care-ish.
