I am trying to juggle my credit card debt to reduce the rate of interest i am being charged as some of the 0% offers I was on have just expired. I just cleared my barclaycard balance in the hope they will offer me a good rate for the life of the balance as I have heard they sometimes do so that I can shift money from one of the higher interest cards onto it. Has anyone who is an existing cardholder been offered any good deals from them recently?

As an existing BC customer I have checked and have 0 percent until Aug 10 with usual 2.5 percent fee. If your BC account is online it will advise what offers are open to youl.

I've been with them for 13 years and have two cards. Rung today to cancel one as I don't use either and want to get rid of some dormant accounts. Thought they may offer me a balance transfer but they didn't, offered me some other stuff but not of interest. Will ring them about the other one next month when I need a balance transfer from my Virgin card thats expiring.

  • That was a quick response! Its my first post so thanks.

The balance transfer is still going through but will check as soon as it does. I have a masterplan that they will offer me a low interest rate for the life of the balance but anything will be a bonus. I am £36K in debt and trying to avoid going down the DMP route so if I can reduce the rates a bit it will buy me some time until my business picks up.

I have at moment and for last few months now 6.9% for the life of the balance with a 2.5% fee
  • That's encouraging thanks Stephane!
  • I also have and offer of 6.9 LOB - very short time window to use it in but they send me a new cheque every 2 weeks - I am just getting my balance to zero (hopefully by the end of this week) in order to transfer an ending 0% deal onto it
Total debt at 01/01/2010 £34,262 (Excludes mega mortgage) Daily interest £12.42
02/10 Now £3.12 due to repayments, BT and :money:

  • Thanks Upsy Daisy. Sounds like my debt is very similar to yours. Its good to know they still offer that despite the level of borrowing. All the best with your goals!
