Keyboard & mouse not working!!

Hi all,
I'd be really grateful if someone could help.
I have a 1 month old Dell Inspiron One all-in-one desktop which has been working fine.
A couple of weeks on startup when it arrived at the password page, neither the keyboard nor mouse worked. However, after a reboot they worked again and so didnt think much more of it.
However, today it has done the same thing except the trusty reboot hasnt done the trick. The bizarre thing is though that if I press F2 it takes me into setup and the keyboard works. Equally at the safe mode screen the keyboard works but when it gets to the password screen...nothing!! The light is on on the keyboard but that's it.
I'd be really grateful if someone could help out.
Many thanks,
Matt
