Bank Charges

My daughter received a statement from her bank HSBC telling her that £50 of charges are going to be taken out as in January she went overdrawn for less than 24 hours. We went to talk to the bank but they said there was nothing they could do. My daughter is a single mother on benifits and doing an Access course at colledge to get into University so she can become a teacher. Her money is worked out to the last penny but January is a hard month for most. If they take this £50 out and the next day her electric will go out and she will be overdrawn again and therefore she will get more charges next month. She asked them to take £10 pound a week but they wouldn't. They agreed that she normally keep within her limits.
Has anyone any ideas where we can go from here!

If this is the first occasion then ask as a gesture of goodwill if they will waive the charge. Alternatively, speak to the electricity supplier and tell them that she will have to cancel the DD for next month and pay on a giro slip and then return to paying by DD in April.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
