Engagement Ring insurance - travelling abroad

Hi all

I am moving abroad to South Korea for a one year work contract, and I am looking to insure my engagement ring for this time period.

Does anyone know anyway of doing this? I do not have house & contents insurance, the well known jewellery insurer T H March cannot help us and travel insurance either costs £500+ for the year or doesn't match the value of the ring.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try John Wason Insurance (Ask for Judith) they offer cover for ex pats so can cover your ring and your other contents.

They can also do a medical or travel cover for you

Thanks for the advice, but their website doens't seem to open anymore and the number is dead.

So maybe they have ceased trading?

Insurance Brokers don't tend to cease trading, they have probably been purchased by a larger broker for the book of clients and schemes

If I can find another number I'll let you know

They are now part of the Jelf Group, give them a ring as they will have almost certainly bought Wasons to get the Expatriates Scheme so will probably still be running it.

Hi vickicb,

I was wondering if you found any companies that insured your ring. I have tried the one that was suggested here but they won't cover me for 8months in Japan. Home insurance won't cover that length of time abroad and travel insurance won't cover the cost.

Any ideas?
