Claiming Land

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post the question or not, so forgive me if I've got it wrong.

I was looking up land prices (had a wild thought about buying a bit of land to make an orchard) and came across a website that says you can claim lots of unregistered land and they guide you through the process etc.

They have an offer on at the moment, so it's lifetime membership for £10.99 to get the details.

Has anyone heard of these, or is it just too good to be true?

If I found a way to claim unreg land I'd claim as much as I could then sell it on for profit rather than tell someone else how to do it even if I did get £10.99 for my advice.

As the others have said - what a load of rubbish.

The only way to acquire rights to land is to prove that you have used it/maintained it (ie. a piece of grassland at the bottom of your garden that was always wild but you mowed it and planted flowers etc and used it for your own use) over a long period of time. I think its 12years but its been a while since i studied land law!!

Dont fancy your chances - the likelihood of you researching into unregistered land would take you a lifetime in itself and you certainly wouldnt want to then live in a caravan on that land would you?!

    that'll be £9.99 please :)

I said this on here a couple of weeks ago because one of my neighbours is hoping to get lucky with just that, they've been mowing the grass on waste land at the bottom of their garden for a few years now.
But someone came back and posted to say the law has been changed, so it looks like even this loop hole as been filled.

Mine was on plastic. I hope I'm covered!!!
  • It is one thing to get a possessory title by extending your garden on to waste land and maintaining the fences and growing stuff on the land for 12 years (assuming it is presently unregistered) but another to go looking for a likely piece of land you could really make money out of - that is going to be much more difficult!

I have used the same piece of land for over 12 years, I have cut the grass and maintained it, but how do I prove this to claim the land? The neighbours will have seen me working on it, and no-one else ever set foot on it in that time. Is a signed letter from the neighbours enough to say that I have worked on it for over 12 years? What else do I need to do to formally register the land in my name?
