My two cats eat a high meat diet (raw every other day, high meat pouches and high quality dry food) but recently Missy has developed some flaky skin on her back which flakes off when you smooth her. It is only a minimal amount but Im stumped as to what could be causing it?
Thanks

My cat that I used to have until she sadly passed away with old age had this reoccuring quite alot . She had a skin disorder { like dermatatis : Not sure how you spell it } ..
She used to be treated by anibiotics then it would go away and re occur months later .
When she did have it she found it very irratating , but she also used to sit next to the radiator alot .
Im sure the vet will let you know what the problem really is ., and the problem will probably get resolved quickly for your catEbay Bag A Day Challenge 2012- :staradmin

Well went to see the vet this morning and she didn't think it was a major problem. She agreed that it was likely due to the central heating being on so much at the moment so she has recommended that I buy a humidifier and a grooming brush (any suggestions?) as it is in the area that she can't groom herself very effectively.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

I bought my grooming brush from Ebay. They're fairly cheap, and i don't think you have to go for any specific one. Mine has soft brush one side, and bristles the other side for knots etc.DFD February 2012

my black and white cat has dandruff too!!
I think it is to do with the weather and heating as she has a decent diet. james wellbeloved, with a mixture of hilife, encore, whiskas and felix (she gets bored v.easily)
I am trying to groom her more though she dont like it! and I was thinking of adding some oils.
is morning primrose ok to add to their food? how much!?!?
I did try with the sardines but she didnt like them
like whiskas & felix - the additives & ingredients can cause allergies/dandruff. Try feeding Burns &/or raw.0 -
re: grooming brush - ours absolutely love those 'grooming mittens' (ie. like a mitten with an area of raised rubber 'prongs' on) - have a theory that its because its like a giant cat's tongue, like their mother would have groomed them, & they find it really reassuring!0
