CC refusal

I have had a mortgage for years, and a new one about to start, and a CC with HSBC, used occasionally and always paid off... and been refused a cc with Sainsbury's, which erks me. Is it, as I assume, because I have no intention of giving them any money and am merely taking advantage of the nectar points and 0% wotnot? I wanted one to protect me against any huge bills over the next few months (am moving house and haven't got any capital left). Is it worth applying for any others... or would that affect anything credit score wise?
Cheers

Even people with good/excellent credit report do get declined for credit. A couple of searches will have no impact on your credit report in the short term.0 -

I'll never understand how I can get a mortgage for over £100k but not a CC...?

I'd get an experian report if I were you. See if there is anything negative there... anyone linked to you that shouldn't be, you're showing as being on the electoral roll, the HSBC account is correctly reported..0
