LCD Television help

We currently have a Hitachi LCD television and it seems to have a problem with it and I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice.

We recently unplugged everything and moved it all but since it's been set up again we'll be watching it and after 2-3 hours of it being switched on the sound will go off. If we put it on standby and switch it straight back on everything is back to normal then after another couple of hours the same will happen.

We are looking at getting a new set anyway but we were going to give this one to my mum and I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what the problem could be.

We've checked to make sure all the leads are in properly and they are. Could this just be a dodgy connection that a new scart lead could sort or something more serious?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)
