I'm new to this, so apologies for any errors.
I have a high roof, long wheelbase large van which is 7 months old.It was bought new but had to be recovered back to the dealer 2 weeks ago stuck in 1st gear. I have now been told that the repair isn't covered by warranty, as problem is due to gearbox being full of water. Dealer is unable to offer any advice as to how this is possible. No other water damage found in engine etc. Various mechanics/engineers have advised that it would have needed to have been submerged for some hours for this to happen if it hasn't been caused by a manaufacturer defect!! I know for a fact that this van hasn't been submerged in anything.
Any advice on how to take this matter forward? I'm trying to arrange an independant inspection and have asked the dealer to put their findings into writing also.
Thanks.

Have the 'water' analysed. If it has coolant (antifreeze) in it, then it has come from the engine, if its just plain water it has come from an external source.0

The independant inspection has to be the way to go, PL>>>> has it correct when he says get the water analized, if that is possible after mixing with gearbox oil.
The question has to be has anyone else driven the car but you???????I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Thanks all for your comments.
Definately arranging an indpendant inspection. In answer to your question, no one else drives the van, only me. I'm not sure that the dealer still has the water to get it analysed!! I will check tho.0 -

Or to turn this around, have the oil analised which should indicate what it's been contaminated with and by how much.0 -

I'm fairly sure this is a common problem on these Sevel produced vans, although my knowledge is limited to Fiat motorhomes. Try googling to see how widespread the problem is.The man without a signature.0 -
