After browsing online for make up artists, or sorting it out to do it myself I've decided that the thought of wearing make up on my wedding day isn't really appealing to me. I very rarely wear it anyway, and when I do it irritates my skin something crazy.. even the really expensive stuff. I just think the money I'd pay for a professional to do it, or the money I'd spend on actually buying my own could be saved and used for something I think is much more important for my day.
I definitely don't feel like I should start wearing it just because I'm getting married, my OH has seen me without make up for many years and I just wouldn't feel myself all done up just for the benefit of a photograph... I don't know how I'm going to broach the subject with my mam, I know she'll definitely protest, but its my day right?
Just wondering if any other brides here are considering it, or do you all think I'm mad?

            indeed Melly, It's your day!
My friend got married without make up (really, no make up AT ALL) but mainly cos she is allergic to almost all make up, so she didn't bother..!!
What I would say though, as a compromise for your mother (and to make you feel like a princess) is to consider having a decent facial before the day - make your skin glow!
Nobody says that you have to look like a painted doll on your wedding day, and if you would rather not wear any make up, then that's just fine. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Oh my word! Id never not wear make-up - I wouldnt even consider that
(thats me though) Then again I wear it everyday for work or if im out somewhere, only time I dont is on a weekend if im not out and about or just at Tesco ect.
Im sure someone who knows make up wise things will be along in a min, but you might want abit of foundtion to stop shiney headed photos? Im sure some companies do little powdered blotting stuff for this.
As is said above though, its upto you! I look like a mad painted Amy Winehouse eyeliner woman anyway so Id look odd with none on!0

Yeah I'm almost certain I'm allergic to a lot of make up as well, my eyes always get blood shot when I wear it and then the next morning my skin is dry and itchy. I've got olive skin and will most likely have a tan for the wedding day (i'm pretty lucky in that I can get a super tan just from a couple of hours of British sun!) so I'm sure I won't look washed out and I'll be getting my eyebrows threaded into a perfect shape because I'm obsessed with them! Having well shaped eyebrows just seems enough to me, don't need a load of powder on my face.
I'll definitely go with your suggestion of a facial though, will see if I can book both me and my mum somewhere trying to become a moneysaving student0 trying to become a moneysaving student0

If I was getting married abroad, I wouldn't have much make up at all, maybe just some mascara and a sweeping of bronzer.
I don't wear make up often, only when I'm going out or I have somewhere special to be, so I really want to 'wow' OH on our wedding day.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

I don't wear make-up just a bit of mascara and lippy on a saturday night, flippin heck and i'm only 43, but can't be bothered with it.
But my daughter booked us all in for make-up before the wedding, and i'm so glad that she did, because i felt good, the make-up wasn't thick, and i even wore false eyelashes.
But it each to their own.
why not try a tinted moisturiser, and bit of mascara, blusher and lipstick.0

I too am allergic to quite a bit of makeup which is why I tend to use Maybelline mascara, Bobbi Brown Eyeshadows and Clarins eyeshadows and moisturiser. You can go for the natural look which gives you a bit of a lift especially for your photographs - sometimes the real natural look i.e. no makeup at all can make you look a bit washed out.0

The OP says that she has Olive skin (lucky moo!!) so I don't think it will be a case of looking washed out - If anything, I would say for a bit of eye make up to enhance your eyes - but no point if you have allergies.
Melly - I'm not sure when you are getting married, but if you have time to see if there are any products that don't irritate your skin (maybe have some allergy tests to find out what product it is in the make up that affects you) - but if you don't normally wear make up, don't feel that you have to. It's more important that you're comfortable..!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Normally I'd baulk at the idea of leaving the house without any makeup on, but when I popped into M&S Foodhall (fresh-faced)to get a valentine meal deal 2 weeks ago, and they I.D'd ME, I'm thinking about doing it more often!! (I'm 38 btw....and ended up showing the till lady pics of my 13 and 15 year olds as proof of ID, before she'd let me buy their pink fizz !!!) !!!)
I think a glow inducing facial is a good idea though, especially if you're wearing all white as I think this can wash you out a bit? (It'll also make you feel good too!)
Its up to you though, do whatever makes you feel comfy x
