Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me with relation to selling a car.
I sold a car last year sometime and recently i have been sent a notification of SORN so i rang the dvla and they say the car is still in my name and i need to send off details of who i sold it too on the back of the letter they sent me. But for the life of me i can't find the receipt with the person who bought it's name and address. i have tried to ring him but i he is not picking up though this may be due to the time of day.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Did u send the V5 back to them? If they haven't received it. I would put it in writing that you have sold the car, but no longer have the person's name and address as you sent it off with the log book. They have lost a couple of log books of mine, however I did keep a photocopy of them after being stung this way before. Include the dates of when you sold the car, even if these are just estimates.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

You want to write to DVLA soonest.
Any parking fines or speeding fixed penalty notices will be sent to you. If he commits a more serious offence, the police will knock on your door."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Be carefull with this, write to them asap as you could end up getting fined £35 for failing to tell them (it happened to me just before christmas)I used to be me !! what happened0

Yes you need to sort this out asap to prove you're no longer the registered keeper. This happened to a friend at work who ended up receiving a fine for not notifying them that the vehicle wasn't hers, she did actually notify them with sending the revelant part of the V5 back but they never received it.
I now always send back the V5 section needed recorded delivery so i have proof of delivery just to be on the safe side and then i watch the mail like a hawk for that letter dropping in to say the vehicle is no longer registered to me and if i haven't got it within 4 weeks then thats my cut off point to then contact the dvla to chase it up.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
