Sold PPI When in HM Forces

Hi All, I was in the RAF when I took a loan out from my bank and I was sold PPI. I was wondering if this was a case of misselling ( realistically I would never need it) and if there are any success stories that I can refer to on this website?

Hi and welcome
I would check the terms and conds of your policy as well, but being in the RAF I am not sure if this would have protected you anyway.
But there are many reasons for being mis sold, I would check the link below of the guidelines of reclaiming, you will also find a checklist of mis selling reasons, template letters and useful info.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, but not to worry about writing down the figures - they should supply you with these if successful.

Hope this helps and gives you some idea, please ask for help anytime, good luck and please also keep us posted. Cheers.;)

Hi Di
Thanks for the reply, Yes I believe that I was mis sold because I had no need for PPI and that is the angle of my attack. I will keep you informed.
I am also interested if anybody knows of any success stories based on a similar theme ie No need for PPI because they were in HM Forces.

Your welcome Jaffa46.;)
Yes you do have good reason here and you have also been deprived of your money, so good if they sort this out in your favour soon, good luck.
I don't know what actual bank you are referring to, but above if you get the chance check that out on the above success thread.
Keeping fingers crossed for you.:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I have seen a few wins from people in the forces as they are usually already covered anyway. Good luck0

Hi Jaffa - I have seen a few people posting about this & remember 1 lady who was in the army won her claim - i think you can claim on at least 2 things - you are fully covered for 1 year sick leasve wise & if at any time you were posted outside uk you would not have been covered - obviously if you have other reasons
eg it was not explained to you it was optional etc add these in too
HTH big bro was in RAF for 20 odd years0 -
Hi there, I have just reclaimed nearly £12,000 PPI and interest from HSBC for my brother who is in the army. On the basis that he is already covered, since they have sick pay for a year, and also due to his posting in Germany.
Anything else that you could throw in would also help.0 -
Do you mean you have reclaimed this or that you are in the process of reclaiming.?:mad:0

I work for an organization, where we can get six months sick pay, then after that half pay for another six months, so would this be the same? I have already successfully claimed PPI on other grounds due to disability.0
