Lloyds TSB Overdraft

I have a bank account with LLoyds TSB which I have held for about 10 years. I currently don't get any wages paid into it or direct debits coming out. However, I want to switch to this account and use it for wages and direct debits but I need an overdraft setting up first. I have a £3000 overdraft at the moment which I go a couple of hundred pounds into each month, then pay off, but I'm getting charged £1 per day to use it. When I spoke to someone at Lloyds TSB they told me they couldn't set up an overdraft as I wasn't using the account regularly, but then offered me a mastercard instead (I don't want or need another credit card). I can't transfer direct debits over as there wouldn't be enough money in the account to cover them without an overdraft.

Does anyone know of a way I can get them to give me an overdraft?

Pay your DDs at existing bank then transfer the remainder to the Lloyds account. Then set up the new DDs and salary to Lloyds account so that by next month it will have enough to cover. Lloyds will give you an OD when the account is active - I.e. has money going into it to pay for an overdraft.

Transfer your wages to get paid into your Lloyds account first and a few direct debits which you know u can cover.

As you begin to use the account more, they will then decide to offer you an overdraft.

Its not an automatic right and it will take months!
