Not many roads according to google maps.......it amazes me that people live in such relatively isolated places. I mean in a nice way........I totally rely on all those little things in life that make things easier. Like motorways, milk in the corner shop, a cinema 5 mins away etc. And I'm a complete wuss with the weather. I think people who live on the Islands must be practically vikings in order to survive. Well it really is in the genes isn't it. I bet they all go out swimming naked in the sea for fun don't they. Then rub down with a bit of shale for some exfoliation. Wish I was a bit hardier. I went out and bought a thermal vest in the BHS 40% off day. March and I still can't cope with being cold.
I also looked at a picture of Keiss when I was googling and yes it does strike me as a windy place. Very exposed. The old castle hasn't fared too well has it. Exposed but beautiful and if I was a millionairess and didn't have to work then I would ship my folks and my sisters and their other halves and my lovely nieces and live in a beautiful and remote place. And keep sheep. Oh and some cute little pigs (They all look like Babe right?). But I'd have to hire someone to look after them as I can't even manage my nieces nappy without gagging and eyes watering, never mind flipping lambing season. Do Tesco Online deliver to the Orkneys?
OMG, I hadn't seen the Keiss Gallery web-site before...it is great..so many pictures of home! I haven't been there since August 2008 due to illness, but planning to get there this summer!! We will pop over to Orkney too and see as many of my mum's family (as well as friends) as we can. My record was seeing 18 members in only 4 hours on the main island...and it wasn't in just one house!!
Also curlygirl, there is a Tesco in Kirkwall, the capital, so that should keep you happy, though there are fantastic butchers, fish-merchants and general stores too. It is quite civilised you know!
As to nearly being Vikings...a lot of us still consider ourselves as coming from Viking stock...it was owned by Norway for a good few centuries after all!!
Hmmm I seem to have over-used the !!! in this post...I am just excited at the thought of getting back up there...roll-on July!
Thanks curlygirl for getting me all nostalgic, I would move to Orkney tomorrow...not absolutely sure about DH though, he has become soft by living in England for 29 years...crikey is it that long? That means I have lived in England for 28 years...longer than I have in Scotland...:eek:!
Right off to collapse as rather shattered...plan on knitting some flowers sometime tonight to sew onto some fingerless gloves I have knitted for DH's niece's birthday. Might even sew a few sparkly beads on as well to jazz them up!
Night, night, everyone have a great Sunday.

Hi everyone
Managed another NSD today but I am now covered in scratches and have been picking bits of foliage out of my hair and clothes all day. It was a beautiful morning and I decided to remove and old and very tangled clematis from a fence. A job I thought would take a couple of hours at the most took me most of the day and a lot of swearing (sorry BigMumma:o:o). Still, it kept me away from the shops:j. Spent the rest of the day doing housework:(:(.
Have a good Sunday everyone

I'm in a quandary. Did an MS job today, so bought unnecessary things. But this was necessary to complete the assignment . After all i'll be reimbursed and get a fee payment on top.
Oh to hell with it, i'm claiming an NSD.

Planning a NSD today and have managed 3 so far.
Better plan a bit better next week to get some more in!
Quite difficult to retrain my brain to the point of leave the purse at home and don't take any money.
Need to have a plan - otherwise I'll never get there. How come I've forgotten how good it feels to reach the target? Little steps required.....
....let's plan for Tues/Wed/Thurs as NSD as need some coffee for work tomorrow then a food shop on Fri and hopefully a NSD next Sat
Need to achieve at least 3 next week but aiming for 5 and anywhere in between is good!

Why is this? *shruggy smiley*
Why would anyone have a poor opinion of someone who puts all this work into a thread like this one?
